Geotropy ehf signs contract with Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), Oslo, for technical cooperation on carrying out Feasibility Studies and a demonstration project for utilization of geothermal energy resources in North-Eastern Himalayas.

On 16th, November 2023, a pact has been signed between Geotropy ehf, an Iceland based geothermal development company and Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), Oslo, for technical cooperation to develop a project on geothermal energy utilization and demonstration in the North – Eastern Himalayan region of India. As a first initiation of its kind in the region, the project has the following objectives:
- “Utilization of Geothermal Energy for heating/cooling for the benefit of the society in North-Eastern Himalayas.
- A practical demonstration project illustrating the utilization of Geothermal energy.
The pact was signed by Tomas Otto Hansson, Chairman of Geotropy ehf, and Arnstein Aarset Section Head of Rock Engineering at NGI, in the presence of Ms Martine Aamdal Bottheim Deputy Head of Mission, Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi.
