A geothermal powered drying facility for fruits and vegetables has been made operational by Geotropy in the Tapri village of Kinnaur district in India. The drying capacity of the machine is 500 kg of fruit per day at present and is planned to be scaled upto 5000 kg per day at the later stage. Application of the installed geothermal powered dryer will help the farmers to achieve drying of their fruit and vegetables such as apples and apricots at a low price. The installed facility for drying fruit and vegetables is planned to be cascaded with the proposed cold storage facility by utilizing the geothermal heat from the fluid exiting from the cold storage equipment.
